Polish Steel Association is member of The International Iron and Steel Institute. The International Iron and Steel Institute (IISI) represents over 190 steel producers (including the world's 20 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations, and steel research institutes. IISI members produce around 60% of the world's steel.
Aims and objectives
IISI's mission is to provide a forum for the world steel industry to address the major strategic issues and challenges it faces on a global basis. IISI also facilitates the benchmarking of best-practice amongst its members in all aspects of the steel business.
The Institute promotes steel and the steel industry to customers, the industry and general media, and the general public. It assists its members to develop the market for steel. IISI has active projects in the following industry sectors:
- automotive
- construction
- stainless steel
- packaging
IISI promotes a zero-accident working environment for steel industry employees and contractors.
IISI was founded on 19 October 1967. It is a non-profit research organisation with headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. In April 2006, IISI opened a second office in Beijing, China
